Not sure why you want to, but hey ho. (IIRC I've created a "backup" user before and just given it lock_tables privilege to all databases). crom has a *very* restricted path by default (/bin,/usr/bin) IIRC, you might need to add a PATH="..." line to your crontab. Another other commenter suggested logging the output. This is a good idea too.
