Some interesting stuff there [though mostly about turning it off, not
on].
Nothing has worked... even reversing the "off" info so as to turn it on.

Why would a kernel update have killed it, I ask myself.  Time to look at
other recent updates for a possible candidate methinks.

On the other hand - is bum wiggling really that important [yes!]?
...and I have now got a "desktop ready" to hum along to instead of
wiggling me bum before logging in ;)

Annoying but not a great loss in the vast scheme of things.
