According to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine1.6/+bug/1383214 (comment #4) it was fixed in wine 1.7.20. The ppa has 1.7.38. Is it not fixed in that? What does apt-cache policy wine show for you when you have updated from the ppa?
