This reminds me of something I've been meaning to bring up here. Actually, I think I did once, but it deserves bringing back up. Leo Arias [suggested][1] doing Ubuntu Hours as Hangouts on Air. I don't think the first one was public but I think that would be a great idea: to bring a computer along and broadcast for anyone outside of Salem to participate in. I know people have problems with Google (I do), but we could use Matrix and do the same thing. Won't be recorded, but who cares. It's not like the hours are connected anyways. I mean, jeez, you can do this stuff on your phone or tablet. At this point it's pretty darn easy. Whatcha think? It was indeed public, although Hangouts On Air is limited to ten people, so it was a little weird to have one person lag out only to be immediately replaced by someone else, haha. I was waiting for Leo's terrible internet to disappear and have him replaced. Basically, we need other tech anyway. I agree that it's a good idea. I think it's a nice way to make experienced Linux folks available for less experienced folks' questions in an approachable manner (IRC is a little more opaque). It's also a good way to grow a LoCo beyond one's immediate locality so that when one has, say, a release party, more people might make the trek.
