Same problem on my computer. I have a dell inspiron 6400 with an ATI radeon mobility 1400. I have the radeon driver as fglrx is no longer develop for non HD graphic card. Uname -a : laptop 2.6.28-12-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 1 19:27:06 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
My computer freezes sometimes with some compiz effects. It freezes after 20 seconds using google earth and after 20 seconds using cooliris (on firefox).
