uiberto, having compared the logs it looks like the bugs are a bit different. 
In your case, it looks like the EDID information is wrong/misinterpreted. You 
have lines in the log like:
(II) intel(0): Not using default mode "1440x900" (exceeds panel dimensions)
It looks like the "Supported additional video mode" of 1280x800 is what the 
driver puts as the maximum resolution. I don't understand what the line 
        Driver      "vesa"
is doing in your xorg.conf. 

In Jonathan's case the log looks just fine on first sight. It claims to
set the resolution to 1280x800, and 1280x800 is listed as a valid mode
in the xrandr output.

So uiberto, it's probably best if you file your bug as a separate bug.
