Isn't that a bit extreme? Why not roll back to 8.10, or roll your nvidia
driver back to 180.11 (current working version in ubuntu 8.10)? There
isn't any benefit in 9.04 that is worth these driver hassles. Until
these video issues (ATI, intel, nvidia) get resolved I'm sticking with
the older version. I just hope no one decides to "upgrade" the video
drivers in 8.10.
