Sorry for the delay - my bugmail filtering went wrong. With 2:2.7.99.1+git20090520.ad212882-0ubuntu0sarvatt on linux 2.6.30-5.6 without KMS on Karmic, the degradation when switching from EXA to UXA seems to be gone.
