About the patches: the commit you refer to above is the same as https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=2580613f4c435ebf2a7c150ffa714f3b23b8e4e8cb42f which you cited before, but with a different signature (I guess you know that, but I was confused). It's included in 2.6.30rc6 and does not appear to fix the freeze. That may come from the fact that the freeze I get now is not the same.
