I'm having the same problem in Ubuntu 9.04 with intel GMA950 graphics. I use intel drivers from xorg-edgers PPA. i am still not sure if it is compiz bug or a intel driver bug or something else. All I know is that after a few hours or mostly a day of usage of my system, the swap drive is getting full (compiz.real uses 1.3GB od virtual memory) and I get noticeable slowdown of the system. Also because I keep firefox open all the time, there appears a problem with font rendering of the new pages I open. Some of the letters become weird, if I zoom in or out the text, some of the letters become readable again, while others become scrambled. Considering the fact that my system is anything but a standard 9.04 installation (because of the now famous Intel graphic driver fiasco) I am not really sure what part of the system to really blame. Is it the kernel (linux kernel 2.6.30rc8 from kernel PPA), is it the mesa drivers or intel driver or whatever that comes from xorg-edgers PPA, or maybe the problem appeared from the compiz upgrade from jaunty- proposed repository, or is it firefox 3.5b4 that I use. All I know is that after a few hours or mostly a day, I have to restart my computer. It's like Bil Gates took over the development of Ubuntu.
