You may be describing multiple bugs here. We may end up with focusing at
only one of the issues in this bug report (and then you may file more
bug reports if you have other bugs). To help us find out what is going
on, the next time it hangs and becomes unresponsive and you can ssh in,
could you copy /var/log/Xorg.0.log? This should hopefully have some kind
of error message at the end to tell us if you have a crash, a freeze or
something else.
