had the same problem with KDE 4.2.4 on Arch Linx 64bit on a Dell Studio with Mobility Radeon HD 3450. For me it worked to set "Fenster-Vorschaubilder vorhalten" to "always". Sorry for the german word. I don't know how to get the english terms. But "Fenster-Vorschaubilder" should be something like "Windows Preview Images"
