Wow, today I upgraded to KDE 4.2.90 with Qt 4.5.1 and what a relief: KDE works again, I can scroll in kate, konqueror et al and really see the content (rocket science).
What a relief after "I" had to spend so many weeks on an emergency partition with provisionally re-installed intrepid. Today jaunty started to be usable on my machine. I learned from this: the fact that Kubuntu releases a new version is in no way an indication that it is wise to actually migrate to that version.
