Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-common
I run a mostly Jaunty install, but due to memory leaking of the intel driver, xserver-common xserver-xorg-core and I upgraded those packages to the karmic versions. After this my laptop wouldn't suspend when I closed the lid (did work from gui). After poking around google I came up with the above /proc path, so I went: cat /proc/acpi/video/VID/DOS DOS setting: <7> Some more quick research showed me that this value should be either 1 or 0 depending on whether the hardware or software should determine which display to resume on (this is only video chip resume) but never 7. After echoing 0 in there the suspend would run without any trouble as before. Now I don't know exactly which packet broke this but it must be one of the xorg related packages since that were the only one's installed this afternoon. It is not the intel driver from karmic as that was installed earlier and didn't give me trouble suspending. uname -r 2.6.30-9-generic xserver version 2:1.6.1.901-2ubuntu1 ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: intel suspend xorg -- [karmic]/proc/acpi/video/VID/DOS is set to 7, breaks suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/391413 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
