Sorry about the double post before... Just tested with ubuntu Lucid now, the exact same bug happens unfortunately. The only difference is that on lucid the integrated intel chip is recognized out of the box, so you can have at least some 3D support. Tomorrow I'll try the hybrid method but it probably won't give much result if the nvidia driver doesn't work alone.
