Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-settings
nvidia-settings uses pkg-config and python-gtk2 to read/write xorg.conf. If they are not installed, nvidia-settings will work mostly fine (you can choose new resolutions, configure dual screen, etc and apply changes) but when you try to save your configuration, it will either not write anything, or write a corrupt xorg.conf. This is mostly noticed on Kubuntu because python-gtk2 is not needed on Kubuntu, and pkg-config will only be installed by developers. This is probably the root cause of bugs LP 439192 and LP 286424 ** Affects: nvidia-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gtk2 nvidia pkg-config python -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/721453 Title: nvidia-settings should depend on pkg-config and python-gtk _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
