Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

The system login just fine but artifacts in display would soon be shown
when you access the Application menu (using Gnome Panel). Sometimes the
screen would just go blank for a few seconds and come back to live, but
the text, Windows decorations, and sometimes the whole panel would be
darkened or simply gone. The whole desktop would become very sluggish.
When the system freezes, it would come up with an error from apport-gpu-
error-intel.py which needs to be reported.

This happens to driver version 2.14 and it comes no matter using xorg-
edgers ppa or the normal repo from Natty.

Only solution: uninstall intel driver and use vesa.
