Okay, I think what's going on is you're seeing an unrelated bug - on 945 extended resolutions summing to over 2048 wide or high could cause crashes. That issue is now fixed (the limit is raised to 4096). In any case, the original issue with video playback sounds like it's gone, so we can close this bug. But do feel welcome to reopen it in case you believe the original issue still needs investigation.
