@Bryce Harrington:  Followed your instruction as you can see after a
dpkg update at boot time.

The system dragged me though a registration process in addition.  You
know, of course, that I'm just a retired QA type, but what was the
purpose of doing that?  I can see it added a lot of stuff to the bug
list, but since I am already a registered user on launchpad, why did it
drag me though all that?  Is this a new security arrangement or did the
system need this to drag out all the preceding stuff?  I am attaching my
terminal log in case that should be useful.  To get here, I had to
return to 10.10.
