Actually this isn't really an X bug, although it looks like it from the
symptoms.

What's really going on is some other process on your system is consuming
all the video memory (perhaps by polling the xserver with redraw
requests or something).  Eventually the video memory is exhausted, and
that prevents X from running.  The error messages you show are really
typical for this type of scenario.  Try identifying what client app is
going rogue and causing the X server to die.
