Please reopen, this bug is still present in jaunty as of kernel 2.6.28-13. I experience this on a system with an nVidia GeForce 6150 LE using the nvidia 180 driver on a Dell C521. In my case the USB mouse hangs, without any trace in /var/log/messages or dmesg. The USB keyboard usually still works at that stage. Unplugging and re-plugging the mouse gives no sign in dmesg. I have not yet tried nvidia 173.
