You have been subscribed to a public bug: When I click on reboot system, instead having the shotdown blue bar of Kubuntu, I have a black screen and the computer does not reboot :( I assume that is something about monitor because it happens when I started to try to change the refresh of the monitor. The strange thing is that also with the default config this happens :(
I've got the same problem as caterpillar: after updating from ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10, when i try to reboot or shutdown, the system freezes, showing the progress bar about on 50% I've noticed this problem only when my notebook is connected to the net using a ethernet cable; when is connected in wireless mode there isn't any problem. so I think that the problem is related to the ethernet controller, that in my case is: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 01) Update: (Caterpillar) I also tried to shotdown the pc doing manual commands: starting with sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop and tryng to enter in the console (ctrl+alt+f1), and then sudo halt. But entering the command sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop the screen becomes black and all freezes :( Before doing that I also tried to stop ethernet interfaces, but this makes no differences ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: freeze restart shutdown -- freeze on shutdown-restart with ubuntu Intrepid https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/291289 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
