I have precisely the same problem (though using Kubuntu). Jockey seems to install the driver without problems but after a reboot, X can not load it ("Failed to initialize GLX extension (Compatible NVIDIA X driver not found)") and jockey reports "active but not currently in use". I.e. the kernel module is loaded but the X driver doesn't seem to be.
