Ok, so after upgrading to Natty, the problem has gotten worse to the point that the system is unusable.
Launching an application window causes my machine to lockup completely so I am unable to gather any meaningful stats. I also installed Natty on a Mac Mini computer and it works fine on that without any issues. So it is closely related to the hardware setup of my other server.
