Public bug reported: Xorg crashes when a password dialog is shown that grays out the rest of the screen. This only happens when I have an external monitor connected to my laptop. I do get some random Xorg crashes as well, not very often though. The following steps trigger it for me: - Connect an external monitor - Launch Software center - Open 'Edit -> 'Software Sources' - *Crash* I have seen this behavior with other applications that use that password dialog (like apport...). When this bug shows up Apport sometimes pops up after X restart and sometimes not so I reported this manually. I also did some backtraces, they do look somewhat different even though I used the same steps as above each time (I hope I did it correctly, never done it before).
