So, having upgraded to natty I find the nouveau-death problem is just as bad as before. It crashes 3 times yesterday. The current state is that I rebooted the machine and the graphics card is still messed up and just showing a few random stripy bars. It's quite impressive that this breakage can survive a 'hold the power button down reboot' cycle (It doesn't always - it may be to do with waiting long enough after power down before restart).
I can see no pattern at all to when it stops working - I may just be typing in a term, or browsing, or even doing nothing. I guess it would be worth trying an upstream latest driver, although 2.6.38.8 sounds fairly current to me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/673977 Title: xscreensaver crashed (display and keyboard dead) on nouveau assertion _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
