Since this bug occurs across multiple distributions AND across multiple graphics hardware AND across multiple drivers, it is clearly a generic Xorg/kernel issue, so I have logged a bug with upstream (Xorg - freedesktop) team - URL is here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38029 Unfortunately, as it keeps on coming up (Google shows this bug has been around for over 2 years), I don't hold out any great hope that it will be fixed at any time, by anybody, despite it effectively preventing use of a MAJOR feature (ie standard 3D Desktop Effects). ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #38029 http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38029 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/567696 Title: [Radeon] [Lucid] [mi] EQ overflowing.
