I'm having similar behavior on my laptop. HP6730b with Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD 9.04 jaunty kernel 2.6.28-13-generic
Have a dual-head setup from a docking station (2 x HPLP2065 monitors) . Only affects the left hand monitor, which is the primary using the DVI output.
