A workaround I've found is adding the following line under 'Section "Device"' to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Option "RegistryDwords" "PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x2222; PowerMizerDefault=0x1; PowerMizerDefaultAC=0x1"
You may need to restart your machine after that. Hope it helps.
