Hello I have an Acer Aspire 7715 and tried several solutions. I note that this bug is not necessarily related to Ubuntu because I also encountered the problem with Fedora 15, Debian, ArchLinux as long as I use a new kernel "2.6.38 / 3.0.0-7" the retro lighting of this machine is not working.
