This is not a re-post of 341129 or 107504 (I've checked them out). One
refers to a problem during system suspend (my problem is on a desktop,
no suspend) and the other refers to bad NVidia drivers, which the rest
of my report should cancel out.

Gnome-screensaver was working OK for me with "blank screen". Switching
to "blinkbox", a fairly undemaning GL-pbased screensaver, causes the
system to hang completely when the screensaver is automatically invoked
at the timeout. Note that the setup and preview screens for this
screensaver worked fine. The problem is reproducable -- but it's quite
difficult to get any kind of logging when the only recourse was a
<alt><sysrq><b> reboot. Other GL-based apps work fine, and I'm running
Compiz. Also, replacing gnome-screensaver with xscreensaver and
selecting the same screensaver ("blinkbox") does not reproduce the
problem. The issue must therefore be something in gnome-screensaver.

The issue is a show-stopper. I can't seem to get out of the problem
without a hard or <alt><sysrq> reset.
