A few notes:

- The above logs are from when I booted with the 'recovery mode' option
from the grub menu, so I don't know if the logs are even useful at all
..

- I created a live-usb (from the test-drive tool, so it should be the
latest version) and booted it, it booted normally, though I did see some
screen corruption during boot, but it wasn't "fatal"; that is, the
booting process continued normally. I got an error box saying that
something went wrong during installation, and that I'm going to be
redirected to the "desktop". I don't know what installation it's talking
about, but it takes me to the live-usb desktop after I hit "ok".

Perhaps I can let the system boot normally and fail, and then boot from
the live-usb so I can provide better logs. The only thing is, I don't
know which log files are relevant ..
