Public bug reported: This happened the last two times I resumed the laptop (I haven't yet checked when the X packages were last updated, though there was a recent kernel update). The password protection screen kicks in and then Xorg becomes totally unresponsive (the mouse pointer doesn't move and I can't change VTs, magic sysrq works though - though unfortunately I could only remember the "C" version this morning). I will have a go at reproducing this and experimenting.
