Public bug reported:

Recently I have been seeing random system hangs. I narrowed down the
cause to running a 3D screensaver. The hang appears to be a regression
from the original 11.10 release because I can run a 3D screensaver
overnight from the 11.10 install/live CD but with the latest updates it
hangs within 30 minutes. The kernel, system and mce logs don't show
anything interesting at the time of the hang from what I can tell.
