Public bug reported: This is on an up-to-date 12.04 install on an Asus EeePC 900. I'm using openbox as the window manager. I notice the same behaviour on a fairly standard 12.04 with Gnome fallback.
I'm finding the touchpad almost impossible to use. The mouse pointer will not stop when I stop my finger motion, unless I lift my finger off the pad altogether. Even then, sometime the mouse pointer keeps moving. That makes small boxes such as maximise, minimise and close especially difficult to use. I tend not to use the touchpad anyway, preferring a mouse, so I can't say exactly when this started happening. I know that it does not occur in 10.04. I have the tap-to-click function disabled in both installs, because that is extremely sensitive to the slightest touch.
