You have been subscribed to a public bug: Gnome shell crashes when starting virtualbox on fullscreen, but not crashes when using virtualbox in others modes.
If virtualbox is running, changing for fullscreen makes gnome shell crash. There is a very similar problem reported on ubuntu forums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1890152, the principal difference is that i'm using nouveau. Installing nvidia proprietary driver doesn't help either.
