Wonder if this is just the Xv crash bug in 8.911.
Alberto uploaded a new fglrx 8.960 to precise today. We don't have a
changelog from ATI on this so don't know exactly what bugs got fixed.
Would you mind updating to this driver and re-testing for this bug, to
see if it's fixed now?
On the off chance that this bug got fixed but other problems crop up,
close this report and file new bug reports via 'ubuntu-bug fglrx-
installer', so we can track them against the new version.
