You appear to be running a non-stock xserver:

xorg-server

Likely fglrx simply hasn't been compiled to work against this version of
X.  Bring your system back towards a stock configuration and then
install fglrx.  If you still spot problems, then file a bug report using
the command 'ubuntu-bug xorg'.
