Deb packages of the mainline kernels are available at
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/.

Pick the newest 3.4-rc* kernel, install and verify whether or not it
makes the issue go away.  Report back here with your findings.

If it does lockup again with the newer kernel, you need to collect the
output of 'dmesg' and your /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state
file. Both of these must be collected while the machine is locked up
(e.g. by sshing into the sick machine over ethernet). See
