You have two separate problems here. The first is that fglrx-updates won't install. This is common, since that package is broken right now: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/949641 Since 12.04 was just released, fglrx and fglrx-updates both use the same version of Catalyst at the moment, and this is not really anything more than an annoyance.
The second one is that fglrx is taking a while to shut down (ugly boot screen is a common issue with proprietary video drivers and there are workarounds if you google for them). If possible , please run the following command to collect video information: apport-collect 995184 ** Package changed: jockey (Ubuntu) => fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995184 Title: Cannot install ATI post-release-update Driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/995184/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
