Yes, that patch (applied to the source package from the x-updates ppa) still gives me working xv. Note via_swov.c:Upd_Video still uses NativeMode->Width, but I don't know if it's actually possible to trigger that code, or what would happen if it got a 0 width (dwWidth would be set to 0, but I don't know what that would do, if anything).
