Public bug reported: When I am using Unity or Gnome3 desktop environment and applications the system crashed (within 5 till 30 minutes) and returns to the login screen. When I am not active at the desktop / or desktop applications (but can be active by remote terminal sessions ) the system is stable.
The problem exists since updating the nvidia driver to 295.49 (64 bit). Before that I had another nvidia bug (starting, stopping, and moving OpenGL application windows was very slow on Quadro FX 4600, Quadro FX 5600, GeForce 8800 GTX, GeForce 8800 GTS, and GeForce 8800 Ultra) that was fixed by the 295.49 driver, so I am not sure if the same problem was already since the nvidia 295.40 driver. My system was stable with the 295.33 driver (Ubuntu 11.10). My videocard is the Nvidia Quadro FX 4600. I also tryed to install a clean 12.04 on another harddisk, and updated to 295.49 driver, still the same problem. The attached collected debug information is from the harddisk with the updated ubuntu. Please feel free to let me know if more information or testing by me is needed.
