The logs I submitted earlier are from a system that I can confirm has this bug. A few minutes ago, the bug occurred a few seconds after launching a DIVX-encoded AVI in VLC. I could still move the mouse cursor, but the rest of the screen became totally unresponsive. I could still log into the machine via SSH. Killing the X process works: the DE restarts and I can continue using the system without rebooting.
