I get the impression that the bugs are only in the separate packages
with hooks, not in python3 itself.  I can't tell why it's happening on
my newly-upgraded box, but not the other quantal box.  I don't have time
to read that whole conversation yet.  Nor time and focus to summarize it
here.  Maybe later.  Thanks.
