The set "Wait for vertical refresh" to "On, unless application
specifies" workaround does not fix the issue when running gnome-shell.
Compiz is not being used when using gnome-shell. Therefore I expect
there will be no point in installing ccsm to try the alternative
workaround. Is this assumption correct?

If yes, would there be anything else worth trying?
