Not sure if this is where i should post this.. Anyways, Ive installed and or upgraded ubuntu 12.04 on a few laptops and desktops and there is no issue such as this one on any of those systems. None of them has compiz. So I suspected that it might be that something in the compiz is causing this issue. I systematically turned off and on some of the effects under CCSM and found the culprit under the "Animations" Plugin I tabbed to "Focus Animation". I had the Focus Effect set to "Dodge". I changed it to "None".
