This is happening to me as well, only on one of my machines, albeit the
one which has gone the longest without a fresh install... just regular
updates and upgrades as they came along. Not really sure yet if this is
hardware or software related.

The only constant so far seems to be network activity. That is, it
always seems to coincide with requesting some action either on a
webpage, with a newsreader, with Transmission, etc. Even if some such
action was not just requested, at a bare minimum there is an active
connection when it occurs.

I would greatly appreciate being able to collect data on this, but I
haven't a clue how to do so. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in
advance.
