I can confirm #109. I'm using a GeForce FX 5200 card. I've tried to force unity to start by adding UNITY_FORCE_START=1 to /etc/environment. Unity starts but is unusable (icons missing and very very slow), so I assume that Unity simply does not work with an old card like this. I will stay with Unity 2D for now.
However, package nvidia-173 from ubuntu-proposed is installable and working, so I think this bug is solved :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948053 Title: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/948053/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
