UPDATE: My two displays work now without error messages. I followed the following tutorial to install the newest driver from the ATI web site: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Oneiric_Installation_Guide
Then I had the following error message when running fglrxinfo: Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)... I found a solution here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/81344/how-to-fix-error-with-ati-driver-error-of-failed-request It turned out that my fglrx was indeed blacklisted. Commenting out the fglrx line in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-local.conf solved all my problems. I suspect that this blacklist might have been the trouble from the beginning, resulting in a spurious error message relating to the virtual screen size. No idea how it came about, but everything works now as desired and I can activate/deactivate mirroring without problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/962018 Title: Dual Monitor (non-mirored) wont work since Update 9th March To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/962018/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
