Thanks Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) for changing the status. I had experienced no shutdown problems running the nouveau driver for several weeks. However, I got back to the Nvidia driver.
I bought the Humble Indie Bundle 6, and nouveau was VERY lagy. Now the problem is back: 3 out 5 times I try to shutdown my machine, it does not power off but gets stuck either on a black screen with a horizontal purple bar on top, or in an infinite loop in the Ubuntu's dot animation. I would run test, or upload any log you ask me to. I appreciate your response.
